MORAVIAN FOOTBALL TEAM EARNS A BERTH IN THE 2005 ECAC BOWL GAMES

CAPE COD, MA - Twelve teams, including the Moravian College football team, have been selected to participate in the six ECAC Division III Football Championship Bowl games to be played on Saturday, November 19th.

In the South Region, Moravian (6-4) will travel to Bobcat Stadium to play Frostburg State University (6-4) for the ECAC Southwest Bowl in Frostburg, Maryland at 12:00 p.m. while Salisbury University (7-3) in Salisbury, Maryland will host Franklin & Marshall College (5-5) in the ECAC Southeast Bowl game. Widener University (7-3) will face Montclair State University of New Jersey (5-4) in the ECAC South Atlantic Bowl game in Chester, Pennsylvania.

In the ECAC Northwest Bowl game, St. John Fisher College (8-2) will host Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (8-2) in Pittsford, New York. Also in the north region, Fitchburg State University (8-2) hosts Bridgewater State University (8-1) in the ECAC Northeast Bowl game in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. In the ECAC North Atlantic Bowl game, Maine Maritime Academy (7-2) will travel to Alfred, New York to play Alfred University (8-2).

Moravian will be making its second straight appearance and third in the ECAC Football Championships in the last four years. The Greyhounds fell to Franklin & Marshall, 37-20, in the 2004 ECAC Southwest Bowl game, and lost to McDaniel College, 21-7, in the 2002 ECAC Southeast Championship contest. The game will be the first-ever meeting between Moravian and Frostburg State on the football gridiron.
