MORAVIAN’S KELLY APPLEGATE & WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM RANKED
IN THE TENTH NCAA STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2006

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College women’s basketball team has one player ranked in the tenth NCAA III Division women’s basketball statistical ranking released Tuesday while the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in two team categories. The statistics include games through March 5th.

Junior forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS) is 22nd in the nation in field goal percentage at 55.7 percent, making 192 of 345 field goal attempts in 28 games this season. Applegate was the nation’s leader in the first two NCAA statistical rankings of the year, and she is also listed 32nd in points per game with an average of 19.1. Senior forward Stephanie Seaman (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) is outside of the top 50, being ranked 70th in free throw percentage at 81.5 percent (88 of 108).

The Greyhounds are 20th in free throw percentage at 73.6 percent, making 543 of 738 free throws; however, Moravian leads the top 50 teams listed in the total number of made and attempted free throws. The Greyhounds are 43rd in scoring offense at 71.8 points per game, and Moravian is just outside the top 50 in a tie for 54th in wining percentage at .750 (21-7).

The Greyhounds completed their 2005-06 season with a 21-7 record. Moravian reached the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament for the first time since the 1992-93 season and suffered a 93-80 loss to Greensboro (NC) College in the first round. The Greyhounds also played in the Commonwealth Conference championship game for the fourth consecutive year.
