MORAVIAN’S HENNESSY NAMED COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE
PITCHER OF THE WEEK

ANNVILLE, PA --- Senior pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named the Commonwealth Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week for her performance last week.

Hennessy, who has been named the Commonwealth Conference's Pitcher of the Week three times this season, had a 3-0 record including her fifth career no-hitter in a 4-0 record last week for 17th-ranked Moravian including a 2-0 mark in Commonwealth Conference action.

Hennessy began the week with 10-2 victory at Dickinson College. She allowed two earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out eight batters. In the first game of a doubleheader at Juniata College, Hennessy tossed her fifth career no-hitter and first of the season in a 2-0 victory. She faced just one batter over the minimum because of a hit batter, and she recorded ten strikeouts, her 23rd career game with at least ten strikeouts. In the second game of the doubleheader, Hennessy worked four innings to earn the victory in the 9-1, five-inning win. She allowed an unearned run on a hit and a walk with seven more strikeouts to record her 75th career victory.

For the week, Hennessy posted a 0.78 ERA and allowed just three runs, two of them earned, on six hits and three walks while striking out 25 batters. Hennessy also had a sacrifice bunt in her only plate appearance and had a putout, five assists and one error in seven fielding chances.

Moravian, 13-3 overall, is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, March 28th in a non-conference doubleheader versus Wilkes University beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Blue & Grey Field at the Steel Field Complex. This will be Moravian's home opener.
