THREE GREYHOUNDS & MORAVIAN SOFTBALL
SQUAD RANKED IN FIRST
NCAA STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2006 SEASON
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College softball team is ranked
nationally in six statistical categories and three different Greyhound
players are ranked in six categories in the first NCAA Division
III statistics ranking of the season for games through April 9th
released late Tuesday.
Senior pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold
Township HS) is ranked in four categories. Hennessy is
second in earned run average at 0.99, tied for fifth in victories
with 14, tied for 14th in saves with two and 14th in strikeouts
per seven innings with an average of 9.0. Sophomore second baseman
Beth Paly (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall HS) leads the
nation in toughest to strikeout, striking out just once in 92 at-bats
while freshman outfielder Erica Klepeisz (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth
HS) is tied for 28th in hit by pitch per game at 0.19.
Moravian is eighth in the country in won-loss percentage at 0.99,
tied for 16th in winning percentage at .846 (22-4), 32nd in batting
average at .339, 32nd in home runs per game at 0.65, 41st in fielding
percentage, .962 and 42nd in slugging percentage at .467.
The Greyhounds, who are now 24-4 overall, are slated to return
to action on Friday, April 14th in a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader
at Albright College in Reading beginning at 1:00 p.m.
