FOUR GREYHOUNDS & MORAVIAN SOFTBALL
SQUAD RANKED IN FOURTH NCAA STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2006 SEASON
INDIANAPOLIS,
IN --- The Moravian College softball team is ranked nationally in
four statistical categories and four different Greyhound players
are ranked in six categories in the third NCAA Division III statistics
ranking of the season for games through April 30th released late
Tuesday.
Senior
pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township
HS) (pictured at right) is ranked in
four categories. Hennessy is third in earned run average at 0.37,
tied for second in saves with five, tied for 19th in victories with
19 and 27th in strikeouts per seven innings with an average of 8.6.
Sophomore second baseman Beth Paly (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall
HS) (pictured at left) is first in the
nation in toughest to strikeout, striking out just once in 119 at-bats
while freshman catcher/first baseman Sheri Bienick (Lumberton,
NJ/Rancocas Valley HS) (pictured at bottom right)
is ranked 35th with two strikeouts in 72 at-bats for an
average of 36.0. Freshman outfielder Erica Klepeisz (Nazareth,
PA/Nazareth HS) (pictured at bottom left) is 47th in hit
by pitch per game at 0.14.
Moravian
is second in the country in ERA at 0.85, tied for 16th in winning
percentage at .833 (30-6), 38th in home runs per game at 0.61 and
31st in fielding percentage at .963.
The
Greyhounds, who are now 30-6 overall, are slated to return to action
on Friday, May 5th at the 2006 Commonwealth Conference Tournament.
Moravian, the top seed for the fifth straight season, will play
fourth seed and host Susquehanna University in the first game of
the tournament at 11:00 a.m.
