SEVEN GREYHOUNDS NAMED TO COMMONWEALTH ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS;
Hennessy Honored as Pitcher of the Year for 4th Straight Year

ANNVILLE, PA --- The Moravian College softball team has had seven players named to the Commonwealth All-Conference Teams announced Monday by the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation with senior pitcher Meagan Hennessy (Freehold, NJ/Freehold Township HS) named the Pitcher of the Year for a fourth consecutive season.

The Greyhounds won the team’s sixth straight Commonwealth Conference Tournament title and seventh straight Commonwealth Conference Championship and garnered the program’s ninth consecutive NCAA Division III Tournament appearance by winning the 2006 Commonwealth Conference Tournament. Moravian was the regional runner-up at the Salisbury Regional last weekend and completed the 2006 season with an overall record of 37-9, the third straight season with at least 37 wins. The Greyhounds have played in the regional championship game the last four years.

Hennessy was also a member of the All-Conference First Team along with senior designated player Richelle McWilliams (Riegelsville, PA/Easton HS) and freshman outfielder Erica Klepeisz (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth HS). Junior outfielder Justina Black (Orefield, PA/Parkland HS), junior utility player Lauren Homa (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West HS), sophomore third baseman Kelly Santry (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland HS) and freshman first baseman Sheri Bieniek (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley HS) were named to the All-Conference Second Team.

Hennessy, who was named the Commonwealth Co-Pitcher of the Year and Rookie of the Year in 2003 and Pitcher of the Year the last two season, was 25-7 in the circle this season with a 0.66 ERA, 16 shutouts, five saves, two no-hitters, 267 strikeouts and just 115 hits, 53 walks and 30 runs (22 earned) in 234 2/3 innings of action. Hennessy, who already owns every Moravian pitching record, is continuing to climb the NCAA Division III record books. Hennessy finished her career with a 92-24 record and as one of the top pitchers in NCAA Division III history. Hennessy is ranked in the top 15 in shutouts with 53 which is second all-time, fourth in complete games with 105, fifth in strikeouts with 876, sixth in wins with 92, sixth in innings pitched with 819 2/3, tenth in games started with 114, tied for tenth in games with 129 and 14th in ERA at 0.91. Hennessy, who was the Commonwealth Conference Pitcher of the Week six times this season and was the Commonwealth Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player, had one hit at the plate this spring and has scored 11 runs. She was on the All-Tourament Team at the NCAA Division III Regional last weekeend.

McWilliams (pictured at right), who was on the All-Conference First Team last season and the Second Team in 2004, hit .344 with 42 hits, 24 RBIs, 11 runs, 12 walks, eight doubles and a team leading eight home runs as Moravian hit a school record 26 homers this spring. McWilliams finished her career second all-time with 23 career homers and she homered in her final collgiate at-bat in Moravian's 6-5 loss to Ramapo College of New Jersey in the regional championship game.

Klepeisz led the Greyhounds with 59 hits in a school record 167 at-bats to go with a .353 average, 17 RBIs, 22 runs, 11 doubles, a triple, two homers and 15 stolen bases in her debut season. Klepeisz also earned a spot on the NCAA Division III Regional All-Tournament Team at the Salisbury Regional last weekend.

Black (pictured at right), who was on the All-Conference First Team a year ago, hit .331 with 42 hits, 13 runs, 24 RBIs, two homers, seven doubles and a triple. She was on the NCAA Division III Regional All-Tournament Team last weekend for the second straight season.

Santry also had a .331 average with 41 hits, 20 runs, 17 RBIs, ten doubles and three homers, all hit in one game at Haverford College to set the single game school record. She also set the school mark for total bases in the game with 12 on her three hoemrs.

Homa (pictured at right), who was also on the All-Conference Second Team last season, contributed 42 hits, 15 runs, nine RBIs, two doubles and a .321 average. Homa split time between first base and left field this season for the Greyhounds

Bieniek had 29 hits, 12 runs, 19 RBIs, seven doubles and five home runs in her debut season. Bieniek spent time in the Greyhound line-up at first base, catcher and designated player this spring.
