MORAVIAN’S APPLEGATE AND REID NAMED LEHIGH VALLEY SMALL COLLEGE
BASKETBALL TEAMS OF THE MONTH
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Junior Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS) and
senior Ed Reid (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl HS) from the Moravian College
basketball teams have been named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Teams of
the Month for December by the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization at its
first luncheon of the 2005-06 season at Starters Restaurant in Bethlehem.
The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization is made up of the seven small
college schools in the Lehigh Valley including NCAA Division II schools East Stroudsburg
University of Pennsylvania and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and NCAA Division III
schools Cedar Crest College, Delaware Valley College, DeSales University, Moravian College
and Muhlenberg College.
Applegate, a forward, has helped the 12th-ranked Moravian women open
the year with a 7-0 overall record and a 2-0 record in Commonwealth Conference action. Applegate currently
leads the squad in scoring at 16.3 points per game and rebounding at 6.9 boards per contest. Applegate has
also nine assists, nine steals, six blocked shots and is shooting 72.9 percent (43 of 59)
from the floor. She was named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week on November
28th.
Joining Applegate on the December Team of the Month were Courtney Porzio
from Cedar Crest, Moira Donohue of Delaware Valley, Kirby Lutz from DeSales, Jaclyn Yandrisevits
of East Stroudsburg, Megan Bainbridge from Kutztown and Lacie Smith of Muhlenberg.
Reid, a forward, has led the Greyhounds to a 2-5 record in the first
month of the season. Reid leads Moravian in scoring at 12.3 points per
game and he is tied for third on the squad in rebounding with 3.2 boards per contest. Reid has
also contributed six assists, six blocked shots, and five steals while making seven three-pointers.
He was named to the All-Tournament Team at the 15th Annual Gettysburg College Tip-Off Tournament.
Joining Reid on the December Team of the Month were Isaiah Pinckney
of Delaware Valley, Drew Christman from DeSales, Channon Easley of East Stroudsburg, Ben
Arnold from Kutztown and Jimmy O’Brien of Muhlenberg.
The next Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, January
10th at Starters Restaurant in Bethlehem.
