MORAVIAN’S KATHY BECK NOMINATED FOR NCAA DIVISION III 25TH ANNIVERSARY WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Moravian College Hall of Fame member Kathy Beck, class of 1992, has been nominated for the NCAA Division III 25th Anniversary Women’s Basketball team.

The 25th anniversary of NCAA women's championships will be celebrated throughout the 2005-06 championship season. NCAA Division III women's basketball began in 1981 and will be celebrating its 25th Anniversary at the 2006 championship. To commemorate this milestone a 25th Anniversary Team consisting of 5 student-athletes and one coach will be named with your help. After extensive research and discussion, an expert panel compiled a list of the top Division III women's basketball student-athletes over the last 25 years and listed them on www.NCAAsports.com. The public can vote for their top 5 players and one coach.

Beck lettered four years in women’s basketball at Moravian. While playing at Moravian, she set school records with 1,936 career points and 1,014 career rebounds. She was a two-time Kodak All American and the 1991-1992 Kodak Division III Player of the Year. Beck led the Greyhounds to the National Championship game in 1991-92 when the team was 31-2. She was a three-time Middle Atlantic Conference All-Star, MAC Southeast and Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference South Player of the Year in 1991-92, and the ECAC Rookie of the Year in 1988-89. She also led Moravian to the MAC Championships in the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons. In the 1988-89 season, Beck led Moravian to the ECAC Tournament and as a sophomore, junior and senior she helped the team get to the NCAA Tournament. In 1992, she received the Greyhound Award as Moravian’s Outstanding Senior Female Athlete. Beck resides in Lehighton, Pennsylvania with her husband, Todd DeKorte and their four children.
