MORAVIAN’S KELLY APPLEGATE NAMED WOMEN’S DIII

PLAYER OF THE MONTH
BEAVERTON, OR --- Junior forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS) of
the Moravian College women’s basketball team has been named the Women’s
DIII News December Player of the Month for her performance last month.
Applegate led the nationally-ranked Greyhounds to a 4-1 month with the
only loss a five-point setback to nationally-ranked the University of Scranton. Applegate led
the team in scoring at 16.6 points per game and rebounding at 10.0 boards per contest for
the month.
Applegate, who was named the Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week
and the ECAC Southern Division III Co-Player of the Week for her performance in the second
week of the month, also averaged 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game last month. Applegate made
31 of 52 field goal attempts (59.6 percent) during the month of December, and she connected
on 21 of 30 free throw attempts (70.0 percent) while playing an average of 25.8 minutes
per game.
Moravian, 8-1 overall and 2-0 in the Commonwealth Conference, will return to action on
Wednesday, January 4th in a non-conference game versus Wilkes University tipping off at
7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall in Bethlehem.
