MORAVIAN’S KELLY APPLEGATE & WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
TEAM RANKED IN 1ST NCAA STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2006
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College women’s basketball team has one player
ranked in the first NCAA III Division women’s basketball statistical ranking released
Wednesday while the Greyhounds are ranked in four team categories. The statistics include
games through January 1st.
Junior forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS) leads the nation
in field goal percentage at 68.2 percent, making 58 of 85 field goal attempts in the first
nine games of the season. The Greyhounds are 35th in the nation in scoring average at 73.7
points per game, tied for 26th in the country in won-lost percentage at 88.9 percent (8-1),
37th in field goal percentage at 43.7 percent (234-535) and 50th in scoring margin at +12.8
points per game.
The Greyhounds are 9-1 on the season and will return to action on Friday, January 6th
when the team hosts Albany College of Pharmacy in the first round of the 5th Annual Starters
Moravian Winter Classic in a game tipping off at 8:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
