MORAVIAN’S KELLY APPLEGATE NAMED COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANNVILLE, PA --- Junior forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS) of
the Moravian College women’s basketball team has been named the Commonwealth Conference
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for her performance last week.
Applegate, who was also named the Commonwealth Conference Player of
the Week on November 28th and December 12th, helped the Greyhounds to a 2-0 week in Commonwealth
Conference action. Applegate began the week with 28 points, seven rebounds,
two assists and two steals in a 67-63 victory versus nationally-ranked Messiah College.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Moravian, its first in over two years. She
added 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals, which tied a career high, in a 67-55 win
over Juniata College.
Applegate was 14 of 25 (56.0 percent) for the week and 15 of 19 (78.9
percent) at the foul line, and she averaged 21.5 points and 7.0 rebounds per game to go
with three assists and six steals.
Moravian, which is 15-3 overall and 6-2 in Commonwealth Conference action this season,
will return to action in a Commonwealth Conference game at Albright College on Tuesday,
January 31st at 7:00 p.m. in Reading.
