MORAVIAN’S KELLY APPLEGATE & WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
TEAM RANKED
IN SIXTH NCAA STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2006
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College women’s basketball team has one player
ranked in the sixth NCAA III Division women’s basketball statistical ranking released
Tuesday while the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in three team categories. The statistics
include games through February 5th.
Junior forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS) is 22nd in the
nation in field goal percentage at 56.4 percent, making 132 of 234 field goal attempts
in the first 21 games of the season. Applegate was the nation’s
leader in the first two NCAA statistical rankings of the year, and she is also listed 64th
in points per game with an average of 17.5.
The Greyhounds are tied for 35th in free throw percentage at 72.3 percent, making 423
of 585 free throws; however, Moravian leads the top 50 teams listed in the total number
of made and attempted free throws. Moravian is also 50th in the nation in scoring average
at 71.2 points per game and tied for 39th in the country in won-lost percentage at 81.0
percent (17-4).
The Greyhounds are 17-4 on the season and will return to action on Wednesday, February
8th when the team hosts Lebanon Valley College in a Commonwealth Conference game tipping
off at 8:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall. Moravian has already clinched its fifth consecutive
trip to the Commonwealth Conference Tournament.
