MORAVIAN’S APPLEGATE & ZSILAVECZ NAMED LEHIGH VALLEY SMALL
COLLEGE BASKETBALL TEAMS OF THE YEAR;
APPLEGATE SELECTED WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE YEAR

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Junior Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS) and senior Zach Zsilavecz (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) from the Moravian College basketball teams have been named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Teams of the Year by the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization at its second luncheon of the 2005-06 season at Starters Restaurant in Bethlehem. Applegate was selected as the Women’s Player of the Year in a vote by the media, coaches and sports information directors in attendance.

The Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Organization is made up of the seven small college schools in the Lehigh Valley including NCAA Division II schools East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and NCAA Division III schools Cedar Crest College, Delaware Valley College, DeSales University, Moravian College and Muhlenberg College.

Applegate, a forward, has helped the Moravian women to an 18-5 overall record and a 9-3 record in Commonwealth Conference action. Applegate leads the Greyhounds in scoring and rebounding with averages of 17.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. She is in the top 25 nationally in field goal percentage with an average of 56.1 percent (148 of 264) and has scored at least 30 points in a game three times this season.

Joining Applegate on the Team of the Year were Amanda Swartz from Cedar Crest, Moira Donohue of Delaware Valley, Kirby Lutz from DeSales, Maryellen Onofre of East Stroudsburg, Trish Dudeck from Kutztown and Kristen Piscadlo of Muhlenberg.

Zsilavecz, a forward, has helped the Greyhounds to an 8-15 overall record and a 3-9 mark in Commonwealth Conference action. Zsilavecz leads Moravian in scoring at 11.3 points per game and is tied for third in rebounding at 3.5 rebounds per contest. Zsilavecz has led Moravian in scoring in eight different games with a career high 28 points at Lebanon Valley College in January.

Joining Zsilavecz on the Team of the Year were Isaiah Pinckney of Delaware Valley, Drew Christman from DeSales, Danny Hargrove of East Stroudsburg, Bruce Hall from Kutztown and Jeff Stewart of Muhlenberg. Hall was selected as the Men’s Player of the Year in the closest vote in the 12 years of the luncheon with just two points separating the top three players.
