MORAVIAN’S KELLY APPLEGATE & WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
TEAM RANKED
IN EIGHTH NCAA STATISTICS RELEASE OF 2006
INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College women’s basketball team has one player
ranked in the eighth NCAA III Division women’s basketball statistical ranking released
Tuesday while the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in three team categories. The statistics
include games through February 19th.
Junior forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS) is 22nd in the
nation in field goal percentage at 56.4 percent, making 167 of 296 field goal attempts
in the first 25 games of the season. Applegate was the nation’s
leader in the first two NCAA statistical rankings of the year, and she is also listed 35th
in points per game with an average of 18.6.
The Greyhounds are 23rd in free throw percentage at 73.2 percent, making 495 of 676 free
throws; however, Moravian leads the top 50 teams listed in the total number of made and
attempted free throws. Moravian is also tied for 41st in the country in won-lost percentage
at 80.0 percent (20-5) and 49th in scoring offense at 71.9 points per game.
The Greyhounds are 20-5 on the season and will return to action on Wednesday, February
22nd when the team hosts Widener University in a Commonwealth Conference Semifinal game
tipping off at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
