MORAVIAN MEN’S SOCCER SELECTED SIXTH IN COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE COACHES PRESEASON POLL

ANNVILLE, PA --- The Moravian College men’s soccer team has been picked to finish sixth in the 2006 Commonwealth Conference Preseason Poll as voted by the conference head coaches.

The Greyhounds received 19 points. Messiah College, which has won nine consecutive Commonwealth championships, was selected first with 47 points and garnered six first-place votes while Elizabethtown College was picked second with 43 points and had two first place votes. Susquehanna University was selected third with 38 points while Lebanon Valley College was fourth with 29 points followed by Widener University in fifth place with 23 points, Albright College in seventh with 16 points and Juniata College was eight with eight points.

The Moravian College men’s soccer team has high expectations for the 2006 season with the return on 14 letterwinnners from last year’s squad. Head coach Eric Lambinus has eight starters returning as well from last year's 5-12-2 team.

The Greyhounds' leading returning scorer is junior midfielder Ryan Hess (Harleysville, PA/Souderton HS), who had eight goals in 2005. He also added two assists last season for a total of 18 points. Sophomore forward Louis Dollarton (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights HS) contributed seven goals and five assists for a team high total of 19 points in his debut season.

The Greyhounds will open their 2006 campaign on Saturday, September 2nd in a non-conference match at Stevens Institute of Technology at 7:00 p.m.
