TWO GREYHOUNDS NAMED TO COMMONWEALTH TENNIS
ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS
ANNVILLE, PA --- Senior Margo Kokolus (Orefield, PA/Parkland
HS) and sophomore Dyana Swan (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville
HS) of the Moravian College women’s tennis team has
been named to the 2006 Commonwealth All-Conference First Team announced
by the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Thursday.
The
duo has helped the Greyhounds to an 11-1 record this season, including
the team’s 13th consecutive conference championship match.
Moravian was 5-1 during the Commonwealth Conference regular season
and has won seven conference titles in the last ten years under
the direction of head coach Dawn Benner. The Greyhounds, who were
the second seed in the Commonwealth Conference Team Tournament,
are currently tied with top seeded Elizabethtown College, 4-4, in
the 2006 championship match. The sixth singles match was suspended
due to darkness and will be completed on Tuesday, October 24th at
2:00 p.m. in Elizabethtown.
Kokolus, pictured at right, is the Greyhounds’
number one singles player and has a 7-8 singles mark this fall.
Kokolus has combined with senior Courtney
Hall (Denver, PA/Cocalico HS) as Moravian’s top doubles
tandem and a record of 5-9. Kokolus has career
marks of 13-7 in singles action and 28-23 in doubles competition.
Swan,
pictured at left is Moravian’s number two singles player and
has an 8-5 singles record in her first year at the second spot.
She played number one for the Greyhounds as a freshman last year.
Swan, who is 9-1 in doubles action this fall with
sophomore Kelly Gerbino (Easton, PA/Easton HS)
at third doubles, has a 9-17 singles mark during her career, and
she is 17-11 in doubles action.
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday and Sunday,
October 21st and 22nd at the 2006 Middle Atlantic States Collegiate
Athletic Corporation Individual Tournament being played at Lehigh
University’s Goodman Campus.
