MORAVIAN’S KELLY APPLEGATE NAMED
COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANNVILLE,
PA --- Senior forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson
HS) of the Moravian College women’s basketball team
has been named the Commonwealth Conference Women’s Basketball
Player of the Week for her performance last week.
Applegate led all scorers and four Moravian players
in double-figures with a season high 26 points, and she added 14
rebounds for her first double-double of the year in a 79-70 victory
over DeSales University. Applegate, who moved into
12th all-time in both points and rebounds with 1,136 points and
522 rebounds for her career, also had three assists and three steals
in the victory while shooting seven of 11 from the floor and 12
of 15 at the foul line. The win was Moravian’s first at home
over the Bulldogs since November 23, 1993.
Moravian, which is 2-1 on the season, will return to action in
its first Commonwealth Conference game of the 2006-07 season versus
Widener University on Tuesday, November 28th at 7:00 p.m. in Johnston
Hall.
