MORAVIAN'S PETE MOORE NAMED COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ANNVILLE, PA --- Senior shortstop Pete Moore (Bogota, NJ/Bogota HS) of the Moravian College baseball team has been named the Commonwealth Conference Baseball Player of the Week for his performance last week.

Moore led Moravian to a 3-3 record last week during the team’s spring trip to Arizona, hitting .609 (14 of 23) with 14 runs, ten RBIs, three doubles, three homers, six stolen bases, four walks and a triple. Moore had 18 hits during the entire trip that began last weekend to give him 136 for his career, breaking the previous Moravian career mark of 131.

Moore began the week with a solo home run for his only hit in a 10-6 victory over Beloit (WI) College in the first game of a doubleheader. He was two-for-three in the second game, an 11-7 loss, with three runs scored and a doubles. Moore was then one-for-four with an RBI and two runs scored in an 11-7 loss to Concordia University Chicago. Moore had his best game of the trip in a 19-8 win over College Misericordia. He was five-for-five with four runs scored, a homer, three RBIs and three stolen bases. Moore walked in his other plate appearance in the game. Moore then went two-for-three with two runs, two RBIs, a double and a home run on a 6-4 loss to Beloit in the first game of another doubleheader. He finished the week with a three-for-four performance, three RBIs, two runs scored, a double and a triple in an 8-0 win versus Beloit. In the field,

Moore played every inning of the eight-game trip at shortstop for the Greyhounds, making 11 putouts and 18 assists with just two errors in the 31 chances in the six games last week. Moore was 18 of 31 (.581) for the entire trip with 17 runs scored, 17 RBIs, three doubles, a triple, four homers, five walks, six stolen bases, a 1.129 slugging percentage, 16 putouts, 30 assists and two errors.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Friday, March 16th in a Commonwealth Conference game at Widener University beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Chester.
