MORAVIAN'S IAN BOX NAMED COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE
MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANNVILLE,
PA --- Freshman Ian Box (Charlestown, MA/The Rivers School)
of the Moravian College men's tennis team has been named the Commonwealth
Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for his performance last
week.
Box, playing first singles and double, posted
a 4-2 overall mark in his first three dual matches as Moravian was
2-1 on its spring trip to Florida. Box had a straight
sets singles win and teamed with senior Neil Caniga (Hampton,
NJ/Voorhees HS) for an 8-2 doubles win as the Greyhounds
opened the year with a 7-2 win over Ferrum (VA) College. Box
then lost both his singles and doubles match as Moravian was swept
by NAIA power Aquinas (MI) College. Box was the
closest to winning a match for the Greyhounds in the loss, falling
7-5, 6-2 in his singles match. Box finished the
week with a straight sets singles win and another doubles triumph
as the Greyhounds edge NCAA Division II Michigan Technological University,
5-4.
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, March 14th
in a non-conference game versus rival Muhlenberg College beginning
at 3:30 p.m. at Hoffman Courts in Bethlehem.
