MORAVIAN WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM,
THREE PLAYERS RANKED IN FINAL NCAA STATISTICS RELEASE
INDIANAPOLIS,
IN --- The Moravian College women’s basketball team is ranked
four categories in the final NCAA III Division women’s basketball
statistical ranking, and the Greyhounds have three players ranked.
The statistics include games from the entire 2006-07 season.
Freshman guard Jessica Foran (Annandale, NJ/Rutgers Prep
HS), pictured at right, finished the season 28th in the
nation in free throw percentage, connecting on 84.9 percent (90
of 106) of her free throw attempts. Senior
forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS)
was also ranked in free throw percentage at 78th after shooting
138 of 170 (81.2 percent) this season. Applegate,
pictured at left, finished her career as Moravian’s all-time
record holder in career free throws made with 468 and free throws
attempted with 610.
Senior forward Jenny Hackleman (Arroyo Grande, CA/Rutgers
Prep {NJ} HS) was 84th in the country this past season
in rebounds per game with an average of 9.2 boards per contest.
Hackleman, pictured at bottom right, finished her
career at Moravian third all-time in rebounds with 814.
The
Greyhounds were fourth in the nation in free throw percentage at
75.7 percent (538 of 711), and the squad is second in free throws
made and attempted of the top 50 ranked teams. Moravian was also
53rd in steals per game at 12.2 and 64th in scoring offense with
an average of 69.3 points per game. The Greyhounds were 88th in
three-point field goal percentage at 32.8 percent, making 90 of
274 three-point attempts.
Moravian was 19-11 on the season and completed the season by winning
the 2007 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Southern
Championship with an 86-64 victory over King’s College. The
Greyhounds were 9-5 in their final season in the Commonwealth Conference.
