MORAVIAN SOFTBALL TEAM & FOUR PLAYERS
RANKED IN FIRST NCAA STATISTICS RELEASE
INDIANAPOLIS,
IN --- The Moravian College softball team is ranked in three team
categories and has four players ranked in the first 2007 NCAA Division
III softball statistical ranking released Wednesday.
Sophomore pitcher/designated player Maria DeBonis (Nazareth,
PA/Notre Dame HS) is ranked eighth in the nation in strikeouts
per seven innings with an average of 9.2, and DeBonis,
pictured at right, s is 13th in earned run average with a 1.07 ERA,
and tied for 43rd in wins with nine. DeBonis has
95 strikeouts in 72 1/3 innings this season.
Sophomore
pitcher Kristie Pellicani (Sparta, NJ/Sparta HS)
is also tied for 43rd in victories with nine, and Pellicani,
pictured at left, is tied for 41st in saves with one.
Senior
outfielder Lauren Homa (Chalfont, PA/Chalfont HS)
is tenth in the nation in sacrifice hits per game with an average
of 0.48. Homa, pictured at bottom right, has ten
sacrifices in 21 games.
Sophomore outfielder Erica Klepeisz (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth
HS) is 39th in the nation in doubles per game with an average
of 0.43. Klepeisz, pictured at bottom left, has
nine doubles in 21 games this spring.
The Greyhounds are ninth in the nation in fielding percentage
at .970, and the squad is tied for 15th in win-loss percentage at
.818 and 29th in doubles per game with 1.86. Moravian has 41 doubles
in 22 games this season.
Moravian,
currently ranked seventh in the nation, is 18-4 on the season and
6-0 in Commonwealth Conference action. The Greyhounds are scheduled
to return to action on Thursday, April 12th in a non-conference
doubleheader versus Haverford College beginning at 3:30 p.m. at
Blue & Grey Field.
