MORAVIAN'S NEIL CANIGA NAMED COMMONWEALTH
CONFERENCE MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
ANNVILLE,
PA --- Senior Neil Caniga (Hampton, NJ/Voorhees HS)
of the Moravian College men's tennis team has been named the Commonwealth
Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for his performance last
week.
Caniga, who was also the Commonwealth Conference
Player of the Week on March 26th, posted an undefeated week in singles
and doubles action for the Greyhounds while the team was 2-1 and
clinched a berth in the Commonwealth Conference Team Tournament
for the first time since 2002.
Caniga won all three of his singles matches in
straight sets. He also won all three doubles matches with partner
freshman Ian Box (Charlestown, MA/The Rivers School).
Caniga is third all-time in singles victories in
his career with a 43-24 mark, and he is second all-time in doubles
wins with a career mark of 33-28. Caniga is 19-7
in Commonwealth Conference singles matches and 13-12 in conference
doubles contests.
Moravian, which is 8-5 overall and 3-3 in Commonwealth Conference
action this season, is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday,
April 18th in a non-conference match at Marywood University beginning
at 4:00 p.m.
