MORAVIAN SOFTBALL TEAM & THREE PLAYERS
RANKED IN LATEST NCAA STATISTICS RELEASE
INDIANAPOLIS,
IN --- The Moravian College softball team is ranked in four team
categories and has three players ranked in the third 2007 NCAA Division
III softball statistical ranking released Wednesday.
Sophomore pitcher Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame
HS), pictured at right, is eighth in the nation in strikeouts
per seven innings at 9.6, tenth in earned run average with a 0.84
ERA and tied for 37th in victories with 13. DeBonis
is now 14-2 with 11 shutouts, a no-hitter and 147 strikeouts in
105 1/3 innings.
Sophomore
pitcher Kristie Pellicani (Sparta, NJ/Sparta HS),
pictured at left, is 29th in the country in earned run average at
1.31.
Senior outfielder Lauren Homa (Chalfont, PA/Chalfont HS),
pictured at bottom right, is 20th in the nation in sacrifice hits
per game with an average of 0.38. Homa has 12 sacrifices
in 31 games.
The
Greyhounds are fourth in the nation in fielding percentage at .973,
and the squad is seventh in earned run average with a 1.24 team
ERA, tied for 16th in win-loss percentage at .833 and 36th in doubles
per game with 1.77. Moravian has 56 doubles in 32 games this season.
Moravian, currently ranked fifth in the nation, is 27-5 on the
season and 11-1 in Commonwealth Conference action. The Greyhounds
are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, April 26th in a non-conference
doubleheader versus Dickinson College beginning at 3:00 p.m. in
Bethlehem.
