MORAVIAN'S ERICA KLEPEISZ & MARIA DeBONIS NAMED COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE
SOFTBALL PLAYER & PITCHER OF THE WEEK

ANNVILLE, PA --- Sophomore outfielder Erica Klepeisz (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth HS) and sophomore pitcher Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named the Commonwealth Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for their performances last week.

The duo helped 12th-ranked Moravian to a 4-0 record last week as the Greyhounds closed out the regular season at 29-5 overall and 13-1 in Commonwealth Conference action.

Klepeisz, pictured at right, hit .583 for the week with seven hits in 12 at-bats including five runs, three RBIs, a stolen base and two home runs. She also made four putouts. Klepeisz started the week with a two-for-three performance with a run and a stolen base in a 10-1, five-inning win versus Eastern University. She was one-for-two with a two-run homer in the second game, an 8-0, five-inning victory. Klepeisz was three-for-four with two runs and a leadoff home run, in a 6-2 win at Messiah College. She was one-for-three with a run in the second game, a 7-1 Greyhound win to close out the regular season.

DeBonis, who has been the Commonwealth Conference Pitcher of the Week for four consecutive weeks as well as on March 26th, started the week with her first collegiate no-hitter, shutting out Eastern, 8-0 in five innings. DeBonis, pictured at left, allowed just a leadoff walk in the first inning while striking out nine batters. DeBonis then finished the regular season with a 7-1 victory at Messiah. She allowed six hits and two walks while striking out six batters.

For the week, DeBonis was 2-0 with a shutout, a no-hitter, six hits allowed, three walks allowed, a 0.58 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 12 innings. At the plate, DeBonis was three-of-nine for a .333 average with an RBI and three runs.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Friday, May 4th at the 2007 Commonwealth Conference Tournament hosted by Lebanon Valley College in Annville. The top seeded Greyhounds will battle fourth seeded Messiah College in the tournament’s first game at 11:00 a.m.
