MORAVIAN SOFTBALL TEAM & THREE PLAYERS
RANKED IN LATEST NCAA STATISTICS RELEASE
INDIANAPOLIS,
IN --- The Moravian College softball team is ranked in four team
categories and has three players ranked in the fifth 2007 NCAA Division
III softball statistical ranking released Wednesday.
Sophomore pitcher Kristie Pellicani (Sparta, NJ/Sparta
HS) is 17th in the country in earned run average at 1.20,
and she is tied for 36th in victories at 16. Pellicani,
pictured at right, has a 16-3 mark in the circle this year with
a 1.20 ERA and 93 strikeouts in 122 1/3 innings.
Sophomore
pitcher Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame HS)
is tied for 36th in victories with 16. DeBonis,
pictured at left, is now 16-2 with 11 shutouts, a no-hitter and
159 strikeouts in 119 1/3 innings.
Senior outfielder Lauren Homa (Chalfont, PA/Chalfont HS)
is tenth in the nation in sacrifice hits per game with an average
of 0.42. Homa, pictured at bottom right, has 15
sacrifices in 36 games.
The
Greyhounds are third in the nation in fielding percentage at .975,
and the squad is fourth in earned run average with a 1.19 team ERA,
tied for fifth in win-loss percentage at .865 and 49th in doubles
per game with 1.62. Moravian has 60 doubles in 37 games this season.
Moravian, currently ranked tenth in the nation, is 32-5 on the
season and 13-1 in Commonwealth Conference action. The Greyhounds
are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, May 10th in the 2007
NCAA Division III Regional as top seeded Moravian will play either
fourth seed Ramapo College of New Jersey or fifth seeded Gettysburg
College at 4:00 p.m. at Montclair State University in Montclair,
New Jersey.
