MORAVIAN’S OZZIE BROWN HONORED BY

LA --- Junior sprinter/jumper Ozzie Brown (Plymouth Meeting,
PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh HS) of the Moravian College men’s
outdoor track & field team has been honored as both the 2007
Mideast Region Men’s Track Athlete of the Year and the 2007
Mideast Region Field Athlete of the Year by the United States Track
& Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Monday.
Brown, who was named the Male Outstanding Athlete
of the Meet while leading Moravian to a second place finish at the
2007 Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships, won the 100-meter
dash in a school record, MAC meet record and NCAA Division III provisional
qualifying time of 10.60 seconds, the 200-meter dash in a school
record and NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 21.37
seconds, the 110-meter high hurdles in an NCAA Division III provisional
qualifying time of 14.51 seconds and the long jump with an NCAA
Division III provisional qualifying leap of 7.11 meters (23 feet,
four inches).
Brown also placed second in the high jump at
the MAC Championships, clearing a height of 1.93 meters (six feet,
four inches). Brown would set another school record,
a meet record and also automatically qualify for the NCAA Division
III National Championships with a preliminary time of 14.38 seconds
in the 110-meter high hurdles. Brown's time also set the MAC meet
record.
Brown will compete in the decathlon at the 2007
NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships beginning on May
24th at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Brown
enters the meet with the second best point total in the nation this
season, a school record score of 6,797 points.
