MORAVIAN’S OZZIE BROWN & JESSICA POSIMO EARNS ECAC DIVISION III
TRACK & FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS

CAPE COD, MA --- Junior Ozzie Brown (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh HS) of the Moravian College indoor track and field team has been named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Male Track Athlete of the Week while freshman Jessica Posimo (Philadelphia, PA/St. Basil Academy) was named the ECAC Division III Female Field Athlete of the Week for their performances last week.

Brown, who also won the award on December 5th and January 30th, led Moravian to a second place finish at the 2007 Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships hosted by Susquehanna University. The Greyhounds finished with 104 points, just ten points behind winner Elizabethtown College. Brown, pictured at right, paced the Greyhounds winning the 55-meter hurdles in an MAC meet record and an NCAA Division III automatic qualifying time of 7.53 seconds, the third fastest time in the nation to date. Brown also captured the 200-meter dash in 22.37 seconds, and he was the runner-up in the high jump at 1.97 meters (six feet, five inches), the long jump at 6.78 meters (22 feet, three inches) and the 55-meter dash in 6.51 seconds. Brown ran the anchor leg for Moravian’s 4x200-meter relay team that was first in a time of 1:31.55 and the 4x400-meter relay team, which was third in 3:29.52.

Posimo, pictured at left, was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year after leading Moravian to its 11th MAC Indoor Championship in the last 12 years in the 2007 meet hosted by Susquehanna University. Moravian totaled 160 points, including all 31 points for sweeping the six places 200-meter dash, while Susquehanna was second with 89 points. Posimo captured the MAC Rookie of the Year award after winning the long jump with a leap of 5.22 meters (17 feet, 1 1/2 inches) and triple jump with a distance of 10.65 meters (34 feet, 11 1/4 inches), placing second in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.65 seconds, third in the high jump after clearing 1.52 meters (four feet, 11 3/4 inches) and fifth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 27.72 seconds.

Brown and Posimo are two of Moravian’s four student-athletes that will compete at the 2007 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana on March 9th and 10th.
