MORAVIAN’S BRAXMEIER EARNS CENTENNIAL CONFERENCE CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
Protasiewicz Named to Defensive Honor Roll

LANCASTER, PA --- Junior quarterback Marc Braxmeier (Center Valley, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) of the Moravian College football team has been named the Centennial Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week along with running back Tom Sturges of Gettysburg College while sophomore linebacker Derek Protasiewicz (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park HS) earned on the Defensive Honor Roll for their performances in the Greyhounds’ 34-27 victory at Susquehanna University last Thursday evening to begin the 2007 season.

Braxmeier, pictured at right, tied a school record with four touchdown passes as he completed 12 of 19 passes for 215 yards and added a touchdown run of one-yard with 2:27 remaining in the game to lead Moravian to a 34-27 come-from-behind win at Susquehanna University in non-conference action at Nicholas A. Lopardo Stadium to kickoff the 2007 season Thursday night. Braxmeier threw touchdown passes of 20, 13, nine, and four yards. Braxmeier’s fourth touchdown pass of the game was the first four-touchdown game by a Moravian quarterback since Rob Petrosky threw four touchdowns against versus FDU-Florham on November 2, 1996.

Protasiewicz, pictured at left, led the Moravian defense with nine tackles including five solo tackles, one tackle for loss and a fumble return of five yards in the Greyhounds’ season opening win at Susquehanna. Protasiewicz was not a starter for the Greyhounds in the contest but came into the game in the first quarter due to an injury and played the remainder of the contest at outside linebacker and on special teams.

Moravian will play its first Centennial Conference game on Saturday, September 8th versus McDaniel College with kickoff slated for 1:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field in Bethlehem.
