MORAVIAN WOMEN’S SOCCER TEAM TO HOST THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA IN A
LANDMARK CONFERENCE SEMIFINAL MATCH

BETHLEHEM, PA --- The Moravian College women’s soccer team is seeded second in the inaugural Landmark Conference Championship Tournament and will host third seed The Catholic University of America for a semifinal match on Wednesday, October 31st at 3:00 p.m. on the HUB Quad

The Greyhounds, who are 14-4-1 overall and posted a 5-1 mark in Landmark Conference regular season action to tie for first place, are making their fifth postseason appearance in the 13th year of the program.  The Cardinals come to Bethlehem with an overall record of 10-2-4 and a Landmark Conference mark of 3-1-2.

Wednesday’s other semifinal match features fourth seeded Juniata College traveling to top seed The University of Scranton for a 7:00 p.m. match.  The winners of the semifinal contests will meet on Saturday, November 3rd for the first-ever Landmark Conference Championship match at the highest remaining seed.

Moravian head coach Eric Lambinus has the Greyhounds in the postseason for the fifth time in his nine seasons at the helm of the program.  Earlier this season, Lambinus surpassed the 100-win plateau and enters the Landmark Conference Championships with an overall record of 106-50-12.

Junior forward Tracy Fitzpatrick (Wantage, NJ/High Point Regional HS) leads the 2007 Greyhounds in scoring with 12 goals and five assists for 29 points including six game-winning goals. Fitzpatrick, pictured at right, missed the entire 2006 season due to an injury and is tied for fifth in school history in scoring with 53 points.   Sophomore forward Alessandra Valdetara (Butler, NJ/Butler HS) has contributed four  goals and five assists for 13 points while freshman midfielder Shannon McEvoy (Lafayette, NJ/High Ponit Regional HS) has added three goals and two assists for eight points. 

Freshman defender Nina Rizzo (Westmont, NJ/Haddon Township HS) had a hat trick against Goucher College and has a total of four goals and an assist for nine points while sophomore defender Terri Roberts (Danville, PA/Danville HS) has two game-winning goals and an assist for five points.  Senior midfielder Jill Newswanger (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove HS) and freshman forward Mallory Goggins (Wilmington, DE/Wilmington Friends School) each have two goals and an assist for five points while senior midfielder Allison Solomita (Chatham, NJ/Chatham HS) has contributed two goals and two assists for six points this fall. 

Sophomore forward Jenelle Mirro (Bath, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond HS) has found the back of the net twice for four points while sophomore midfielder Kathleen Wise (Ardsley, PA/Abington HS) has scored a goal and added two assists for four points. 

Sophomore midfielder/forward Brittany Deiling (Chews Landing, NJ/Triton Regional HS), sophomore forward Amanda Friedman (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS) and freshman midfielder Emily Rodriguez (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) each have a goal and an assist while junior midfielder Katelyn Killea (Chatham, NJ/Chatham HS) has found the back of the net once.  Junior defender Alexandra Frascella (Chatham, NJ/Chatham HS) and sophomore midfielder JeriAnne Weiss (Allentown, PA/Salisbury HS) each have two assists this fall while junior goalie Caitlin Corrigan (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge HS) and junior defender Georgia Castellano (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West HS) each have one assist.

Also contributing for the Greyhounds on defense has been senior defender Robyn Klem (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS), one of just three players that has not registered a point this fall for Moravian.

Corrigan, pictured at left, has posted a 0.59 goals-against average with 69 saves, a 14-4-1 record and ten shutouts in 1,666 minutes.  Corrigan, who was the first-ever Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week and has won the award four times this season including this week, has set the school record with 25 career shutouts.  Freshman keeper Sarah Halpin (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West HS) has a 1.72 goals-against average and one save in 52 minutes of action.

Catholic is coached by J.P.Sousa, who is in his fourth season with an overall record of 49-20-8.

Leading the Cardinals is junior forward Suzie Peters who has contributed 11 goals and one assist for a total of 23 points for the year. Freshmen forward Kelly Donnelly has netted eight goals and, five assists for 21 points while junior midfielder Elyse Bellardini also has eight goals with one assist for 17 points.

Sophomore midfielder Diana Spadaro has four goals and five assists for 13 points while senior forward Sara Cooke put up four goals and one assist for nine points. Senior midfielder Diana Napolitano has contributed three goals and three assists for nine points while sophomore midfielder Kelly Anderson has found the back of the net two times to go along with one assist for five points.

Senior forward Ashley Dodd and freshmen midfielder Jenna Graham each have four points on the year with Dodd having scored two goals and Graham having scored one goal and two assists. Junior forward Alix McDonald and sophomore defender Caitlin Laverty each have one goal and one assist on the year for Catholic.

In goal for the Cardinals are sophomore Tere Rossi and freshmen Amanda Cowan. Rossi has a 1.09 goals against average to go along with 43 saves, a 9-2-4 record and four shutouts in 1,318 minutes of play. Cowan has three saves, a 1-0 record and one shutout in 202 minutes of action.   Rossi and Cowan have combined for one shutout this fall for Catholic.
