MORAVIAN WOMEN’S SOCCER TEAM TO THE UNIVERSITY OF SCRANTON FOR
2007 LANDMARK CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

BETHLEHEM, PA --- The Moravian College women’s soccer team is seeded second in the inaugural Landmark Conference Championship Tournament and will travel to top seed The University of Scranton for the championship match on Saturday, November 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Field in Scranton.

The Greyhounds, who are 15-4-1 overall and posted a 5-1 mark in Landmark Conference regular season action to tie for first place with, are making their fifth postseason appearance in the 13th year of the program.  The Royals enter the championship match with an overall mark of 8-9-2, and Scranton was 5-1 in the Landmark Conference regular season including a 2-0 victory over Moravian on October 16th.

Moravian advanced to the Landmark Conference Championship match with a 2-0 shutout of third seeded The Catholic University of America in the semifinals while the Royals needed a goal in the 85th minute to defeat fourth seeded Juniata College, 3-2, in the other semifinal contest.

Moravian head coach Eric Lambinus has the Greyhounds in the postseason for the fifth time in his nine seasons at the helm of the program.  Earlier this season, Lambinus surpassed the 100-win plateau and enters the Landmark Conference Championship contest with an overall record of 107-50-12.

Junior forward Tracy Fitzpatrick (Wantage, NJ/High Point Regional HS), the Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Year, leads the 2007 Greyhounds in scoring with 13 goals and five assists for 31 points including six game-winning goals. Fitzpatrick missed the entire 2006 season due to an injury and is fifth in school history in scoring with 55 points in just two seasons.  Sophomore forward Alessandra Valdetara (Butler, NJ/Butler HS), who was also on the Landmark All-Conference First Team with Fitzpatrick, has contributed four goals and five assists for 13 points while freshman midfielder Shannon McEvoy (Lafayette, NJ/High Ponit Regional HS) has added three goals and two assists for eight points. 

Freshman defender Nina Rizzo (Westmont, NJ/Haddon Township HS) had a hat trick against Goucher College and has a total of four goals and an assist for nine points while sophomore defender Terri Roberts (Danville, PA/Danville HS), who earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team, has two game-winning goals and an assist for five points.  Senior midfielder Jill Newswanger (Pine Grove, PA/Pine Grove HS) has three goals and an assist for seven points including the winning goal in the Landmark Conference Semifinal win over Catholic while senior midfielder Allison Solomita (Chatham, NJ/Chatham HS) has contributed two goals and three assists for seven points this fall. 

Freshman forward Mallory Goggins (Wilmington, DE/Wilmington Friends School) has two goals and an assist for five points.  Sophomore forward Jenelle Mirro (Bath, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond HS) has found the back of the net twice for four points while sophomore midfielder Kathleen Wise (Ardsley, PA/Abington HS) has scored a goal and added two assists for four points. 

Sophomore midfielder/forward Brittany Deiling (Chews Landing, NJ/Triton Regional HS), sophomore forward Amanda Friedman (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS) and freshman midfielder Emily Rodriguez (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) each have a goal and an assist while junior midfielder Katelyn Killea (Chatham, NJ/Chatham HS) has found the back of the net once.  Junior defender Alexandra Frascella (Chatham, NJ/Chatham HS) and sophomore midfielder JeriAnne Weiss (Allentown, PA/Salisbury HS) each have two assists this fall while junior goalie Caitlin Corrigan (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge HS) and junior defender Georgia Castellano (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West HS) each have one assist.

Also contributing for the Greyhounds on defense has been senior defender Robyn Klem (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS), one of just three players that has not registered a point this fall for Moravian.  Klem also earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team.

Corrigan, who was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team, has posted a 0.56 goals-against average with 73 saves, a 15-4-1 record and 11 shutouts in 1,756 minutes.  Corrigan, who was the first-ever Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week and has won the award four times this season including this week, has set the school record with 26 career shutouts.  Freshman keeper Sarah Halpin (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown West HS) has a 1.72 goals-against average and one save in 52 minutes of action.

Scranton is coached by Toby Lovecchio, who is in his first season leading the program as interim coach.

Sophomore defender Beth Stephens leads the Royals in scoring with seven goals and five assists for 19 points while freshman midfielder Chelsea Paskman, the 2007 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year, has four goals and three assists for 11 points.  Stephens has three game-winning goals while Paskman has netted two game-winners for Scranton and each player was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team.

Freshman midfielder/forward Caroline Corasaniti netted the game-winning goal in Scranton’s Landmark Conference Semifinal match and has four goals and an assist for nine points while sophomore midfielder Emily MacPhee has added two goals and an assist for five points.  Sophomore midfielder Erin Unterstein, senior defender Mary Beth Vogel, who was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team, and sophomore midfielder Katie Cordier have each netted two goals for four points while senior midfielder Kaitlin Baker has a goal and two assists for four points for the Royals.

Sophomore forward Eileen Sodano and senior forward Sarah Wright each have three points on a goal and an assist while senior defender Laura Gibbons, the 2007 Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year and a member of the All-Conference First Team, junior midfielder Kristi Cordier, freshman forward Lauren Bottitta, senior defender Jessica Turrin, who was on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team, and freshman defender Emily Boyce each have added one assist for Scranton.

Senior goalie Jackie Colley, who earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team, has posted a 1.11 goals-against average with 40 saves, two shutouts and a 7-7-1 record in 1,300 minutes in goal for the Royals while freshman keeper Caitlin Byrne has a 1.36 goals-against average with 25 saves, a shutout and a 1-2-1 record in 463 minutes of action.  Scranton has a total of six shutouts this fall.
