MORAVIAN WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM AWARDED NCAA DIVISION III TOURNAMENT BERTH;
Greyhounds to Travel to Hamilton (NY) College for First & Second Rounds

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College women’s soccer team has been awarded one of four Pool B berths into the 2007 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament field of 60 teams announced Sunday night by the NCAA.

The Greyhounds, who are 15-5-1 overall, will travel to Hamilton College (14-1-1) in Clinton, New York, for the first round on Saturday, November 10, at 11:00 a.m. The other first round will feature Tufts University (12-3-1) and Emmanuel College (17-2-2), both from Massachusetts and will begin 30 minutes after the Moravian versus Hamilton match. The winners of the two first round matches will play on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. for the right to advance to the sectionals next weekend. The Final Four will be held at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida on November 23rd and 24th. The full bracket can be found at www.ncaasports.com or by clicking here for a pdf file.

Moravian was the runner-up in the inaugural Landmark Conference Championship on Saturday but earned one of the four Pool B berths for independent institutions since the Landmark Conference does not have an automatic berth into the tournament in its first year of existence. New conferences must wait two full years before receiving automatic berths in the NCAA Championships.

This marks the second time in three seasons that Moravian has reached the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Greyhounds were a Pool C (at-large) team in 2005 after finishing as the runner-up in the Commonwealth Conference. That Moravian team reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament and finished the year at 16-6-1, a school record for victories in a season for the 14-year-old program.

Moravian head coach Eric Lambinus has the Greyhounds in the postseason for the fifth time in his nine seasons at the helm of the program and in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament for the second time in three years.  Earlier this season, Lambinus surpassed the 100-win plateau and enters the NCAA Tournament with an overall record of 107-51-12.
