TWO MORAVIAN STUDENT-ATHLETES TO COMPETE AT NCAA DIVISION III INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

ADA, Ohio --- Moravian College has two student-athletes that will compete in four events at the 2008 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio on Friday and Saturday, March 14th and 15th.

Senior jumper/sprinter Ozzie Brown (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh HS), who has the best qualifying distance in the long jump of 7.29 meters (23 feet, 11 inches), will compete in the preliminaries of the long jump on Friday at 1:00 p.m. with the finals to follow immediately with the top eight competitors.  Brown is making his third trip to the NCAA Indoor National Championships.

Brown, pictured at right, will also compete in the preliminaries of the 55-meter hurdles on Friday at 5:30 p.m. with the top eight competitors will advance to Saturday’s championship race at 2:35 p.m.  Brown enters the meet with the second best time in the country this year at 7.43. 

Brown’s third event will be the 55-meter dash with the preliminaries scheduled for Friday at 6:25 p.m. with the top eight advancing to the championship race on Saturday at 3:35 p.m.  Brown was tied for 13th in the country at 6.41 seconds, and he set school records in both the 55-meter dash and 55-meter hurdles this season.

Sophomore Anna Heim (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown HS) will compete in the women’s pole vault for the second straight season.  Heim, pictured at left, is currently fifth with a height of 3.75 meters (12 feet, 3 ½ inches), and she is scheduled to be the first vaulter when the competition starts on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.  The top eight competitors will participate in the finals immediately following the preliminaries.
