MORAVIAN’S MARIA DeBONIS HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Junior pitcher/designated player Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named the Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week.

DeBonis tossed a pair of shutouts last week and hit .333 at the plate to lead the Greyhounds to a 4-0 record last week, all four wins by shutout, and a sweep of the United States Merchant Marine Academy to begin the inaugural Landmark Conference action.  DeBonis began the week with a five-hit, 3-0 shutout of Elizabethtown College.  She allowed one walk while striking out 11 batters in seven innings.  At the plate in the game, DeBonis was one-for-three. 

DeBonis then opened the USMMA twinbill with a one-hit, 8-0 shutout in six innings. She allowed just one walk again while striking out another 11 batters. DeBonis was two-for-three at the plate with two doubles, a run scored and three RBIs.  DeBonis batted as the designated player in the second game of the doubleheader, scoring a run in three at-bats.  She was three-for-nine at the plate during the week with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs, and DeBonis had an assist in the field.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, April 1st in a non-conference home doubleheader as the Greyhounds host DeSales University at 3:00 p.m. at Blue & Grey Field.
