MORAVIAN’S MARIA DEBONIS, ELIZABETH PYTHON & SOFTBALL TEAM RANKED IN
NCAA DIVISION III SOFTBALL STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Junior pitcher Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame HS), Freshman pitcher Elizabeth Python (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman HS) and the Moravian College softball team are ranked in the third NCAA Division III statistics release of the 2008 season including games through April 13th.

DeBonis, pictured at right, is 13th in the nation in hits allowed per seven innings at 3.82, 15th in strikeouts per seven innings at 9.5 and 24th in earned run average with a 1.16 ERA through 12 appearances this spring.

Python, pictured at left, is 26th in the nation in hits allowed per seven innings at 4.71, 32nd in victories at 12.0, 22nd in walks allowed per seven innings at 1.2, and 35th in earned run average with a 1.46 ERA through 14 appearances this spring.

Moravian is ranked 12th in the nation with a fielding percentage of .971, tied for 25th in win-loss percentage at .808 and the Greyhounds are 11th in earned run average with a 1.29 ERA through the first 26 games of 2008.

The Greyhounds, who are 23-5 overall on the season and 8-0 in Landmark Conference action, are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 19th in a conference doubleheader at Susquehanna University beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Selinsgrove. Moravian, which has won 17 straight games, can clinch the top seed in the 2008 Landmark Conference Tournament with two victories.
