MORAVIAN WOMEN’S TENNIS SQUAD TO HOST THE UNIVERSITY OF SCRANTON IN
LANDMARK CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

BETHLEHEM, PA --- The top seeded Moravian College women’s tennis team h will host second-seeded The University of Scranton in the 2008 Landmark Conference Championship match on Saturday, April 26th at Hoffman Courts beginning at 1:00 p.m.

The Greyhounds are 9-6 overall and posted an undefeated 6-0 in the inaugural Landmark Conference season while the Royals are 9-6 overall and 5-1 in Landmark Conference action.  In Tuesday’s semifinals, Moravian defeated fourth-seeded Goucher College, 7-2, while Scranton topped third seed The Catholic University of America, 6-3.  In their regular season match-up, the Greyhounds defeated the Royals, 8-1, in Scranton.

Moravian head coach Dawn Ketterman-Benner has the Greyhounds in the postseason for the 14th straight season.  Ketterman-Benner, who has a career mark of 222-84, has led Moravian to the conference championship match in each of the last 14 years including 2008.

Senior Rebecca Angstadt (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg HS), who was named to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team at singles, leads the Greyhounds with a 16-5 singles mark and is 9-1 at sixth singles this year. Freshman Kerry McKinley (Sparta, NJ/Pope John XXIII HS), the 2008 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year, also has a 15-6 singles mark including a 3-1 slate at sixth singles and a 7-2 mark at fifth singles while senior Brittany Popaca (Lavallette, NJ/Point Pleasant Beach HS), who was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team at singles, is 15-4 in singles action with a 2-0 mark at second singles and a 10-3 slate at third singles.  Popaca is third in school history with 60 career singles wins with just 12 losses.

Senior Lindsey Hopper (Middlesex, NJ/Middlesex HS), who was named to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team, has a 10-8 singles slate this season and is 5-5 at first singles while senior Jennel Yelito (Tamaqua, PA/Tamaqua HS), who earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team, has a 12-6 singles mark this season with Yelito posting a 10-2 mark at fourth singles.  Freshman Elizabeth Endy (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin HS) has a 3-1 singles mark this season while junior Dyana Swan (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville HS) is 4-11.  Junior MaryKate Kelly (Beach Haven, NJ/Southern Regional HS) has won four of 12 singles contests this season.

In doubles action, Popaca and Yelito, who earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference Second Team as a doubles pair, are 8-4 on the season including 6-1 at second doubles while Hopper and Swan, who were on the Landmark All-Conference First Team, have combined for a 7-5 doubles mark including 6-3 at first doubles.  Kelly and McKinley have a 4-3 record with a 4-2 slate at third doubles while McKinley and Endy have combined for a 2-1 mark.  The duo of McKinley and Hopper have a 3-4 mark while Kelly and Popaca have a 3-2 doubles record.
