MORAVIAN’S MARIA DEBONIS, ELIZABETH PYTHON & SOFTBALL TEAM RANKED IN
NCAA DIVISION III SOFTBALL STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Junior pitcher Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame HS), Freshman pitcher Elizabeth Python (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman HS) and the Moravian College softball team are ranked in the fourth NCAA Division III statistics release of the 2008 season including games through April 27th.

DeBonis, pictured at right, is tenth in the nation in hits allowed per seven innings at 3.64, 13th in earned run average with a 0.83 ERA this spring, 25th in strikeouts per seven innings at 8.8 and tied for 28th in victories with 16.

Python, pictured at left, is 47th in the nation in hits allowed per seven innings at 5.28, and 31st in walks allowed per seven innings at 1.08 through 22 appearances this spring.

Moravian is ranked fifth in the nation with a fielding percentage of .974, tied for 12th in win-loss percentage at .833 and 28th in doubles per game at 1.86, and the Greyhounds are currently seventh in country in earned run average with a 1.20 ERA through the first 36 games of 2008.

The Greyhounds, who are 30-6 overall on the season and were a perfect 12-0 in Landmark Conference action, are scheduled to return to action on Friday, May 2nd when the team hosts the 2008 Landmark Conference Tournament at Blue and Grey Field. Moravian is the top seed and will play fourth seeded Drew University at 11:00 a.m. in the first game of the tournament.
