MORAVIAN’S OZZIE BROWN & BLAIR MAGINNIS HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE
MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Senior sprinter/jumper Ozzie Brown (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh HS) of the Moravian College men’s indoor track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week while junior thrower Blair Maginnis (Asbury, NJ/Warren Hills Regional HS) has been honored as the Field Athlete of the Week for their performances last week.

Brown, pictured at right, and Maginnis helped Moravian to a strong finish at the Orange & Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna University as the Greyhounds returned to action for the first time in seven weeks.

Brown won a trio of individual events and was part of two first place relay teams at the Orange & Maroon Classic. He won the 55-meter hurdles in an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 7.68 seconds, and he had the same time in the preliminaries.  Brown also won the 55-meter dash in 6.57 seconds after finishing third overall and winning his heat in the preliminaries in 6.66 seconds. Brown also captured the long jump with a leap of 6.95 meters (22 feet, 9 3/4 inches), just one-one hundredth of a meter shy of qualifying for the NCAA Championships.  In other field events, Brown was second in the high jump at 1.88 meters (six feet, two inches) and fifth in the shot put with a toss of 13.02 meters (42 feet, 8 3/4 inches).  Brown was part of Moravian's 4x200-meter relay squad that won in a time of 1:33.98, and he also ran on the 4x400-meter relay squad that won in 3:32.47.

Maginnis, pictured at left, won the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 15.02 meters (49 feet, 3 1/2 inches), which is just ten inches shy of the school record.  Maginnis would break the school mark in the shot put with a toss of 15.40 meters (50 feet, 6 1/4 inches) which placed him second in the event.  Maginnis broke the previous school record by 11 1/2 inches with his toss.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, January 26th at the 16th Annual John Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem.
