MORAVIAN’S JESSICA POSIMO & SYNDI WISNIEWSKI HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE
WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Senior jumper/sprinter Jessica Posimo (Philadelphia, PA/St. Basil Academy HS) of the Moravian College women’s indoor track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week while freshman sprinter Sydni Wisniewski (Orlando, FL/Winter Park HS) has been honored as the Track Athlete of the Week for their performances last week.

Posimo and Wisniewski helped Moravian to a strong finish at the Orange & Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna University as the Greyhounds returned to action for the first time in seven weeks. 

Posimo, pictured at righj, won a trio of individual events and was part of a first place relay team.  Posimo won the long jump with a leap of 5.01 meters (16 feet, 5 1/4 inches), and she captured the triple jump with a distance of 10.32 meters (33 feet, 10 1/4 inches). She also placed seventh in the high jump, clearing 1/42 meters (four feet, 7 3/4 inches). On the track, Posimo won the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.78 seconds after placing first in the preliminaries in 8.90 seconds. She also ran a leg of the 4x200-meter relay which Moravian won in a time of 1:49.68.

Wisniewski won a pair of individual events and was part of two first place relay teams at the Orange & Maroon Classic. Wisniewski won the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.73 seconds and captured the 400-meter dash in 1:01.42. She was also fifth in the 55-meter dash in 7.68 seconds after placing first in the preliminaries in 7.55 seconds.  In the relay events, Wisniewski was part of Moravian's winning 4x200-meter relay squad in a time of 1:49.68.  She then ran the anchor leg of the 4x400-meter relay for the Greyhounds taking the baton while trailing by 25 meters and led the Greyhounds to a first place finish in a time of 4:17.36, a win by about ten meters.  In field events, Wisniewski placed 11th in the long jump with a leap of 4.34 meters (14 feet, three inches).

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, January 26th at the 16th Annual John Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem.
