MORAVIAN’S OZZIE BROWN HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Senior jumper/sprinter Ozzie Brown (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh HS) of the Moravian College men’s indoor track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Brown won a trio of events, set two school records and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships in a pair of events while leading the Greyhounds to a fourth place finish at the 16th Annual John Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University.  Moravian was the top NCAA Division III team in the event and defeated four NCAA Division I programs.

Brown captured the long jump with a leap of 7.01 meters (23 feet) to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Championships.  Brown was also first in the 60-meter hurdles in a school record and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 8.13 seconds, and he also set the school record in the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.99 seconds. Brown also scored two more points for Moravian with a fifth place finish in the 200-meter dash in 23.32 seconds, and he was 14th in the shot put with a toss of 11.79 meters (38 feet, 8 1/4 inches).  Brown ran the anchor leg of Moravians’ 4x400-meter relay team that placed seventh in a time of 3:41.28.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, February 2nd at the Thomson Invitational being hosted by the University of Delaware.
