THREE GREYHOUNDS & MORAVIAN TEAM RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION III WOMEN’S BASKETBALL STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Sophomores guard Jessica Foran (Annandale, NJ/Rutgers Prep HS) and forwards Alyssa Bisci (Easton, PA/Easton HS) and Kirsty Stearns (East Norwich, NY/Oyster Bay HS) along with the Moravian College women’s basketball team are ranked in free throw percentage in the sixth NCAA Division III statistics release of the 2007-08 season including games through February3rd.

Foran, who is ranked for the first time this season after reaching the minimum for percent of team games played, is currently third in the nation in free throw percentage at 92.7 percent, having made 76 of 82 free throws this season.  Foran, pictured at right, missed five games early in the season with an injury and finally reached the 75 percent of team games this past weekend when she played in her 15th game.  Moravian has played 20 games this winter.

Stearns, pictured at left, is ranked tenth in the country at 89.4 percent for the season, and Stearns is 59 of 66 at the line in 20 games.  Bisci, pictured at bottom right, is currently 15th in the nation in free throw percentage at 87.7 percent, and she has made 64 of 73 free throws in 16 games this season. 

Moravian is ranked eighth in free throw percentage this season at 75.3 percent, making 360 of 478 free throw attempts.  The Greyhounds have made 25 more free throws than their opponents have attempted this season.

The Greyhounds, who are 13-7 overall and 6-3 in Landmark Conference action, will return to the court on Saturday, February 9th in a Landmark Conference game versus the United States Merchant Marine Academy tipping off at 5:30 p.m. in Johnston Hall.

Moravian will be participating in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s “Think Pink” initiative Saturday evening, including wearing special pink uniforms, to help raise awareness for breast cancer.
