MORAVIAN WOMEN’S LACROSSE TEAM SELECTED SIXTH IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The 2008 Moravian College women’s lacrosse team has been picked to finish sixth in the inaugural Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

The Catholic University of America was selected first in the poll with 42 points just one point ahead of Drew University with 41 points. Goucher College was third in the poll with a total of 29 points while the University of Scranton finished fourth in the preseason voting with 25 points.  Rounding out the poll was Susquehanna University in fifth with 19 points and the Greyhounds in sixth place with nine points.

Head coach Kate Miller is looking to return four seniors, two juniors, nine sophomores from last year’s 2-13 squad this spring.  Leading the Greyhounds going into the 2008 season is senior midfielder Erica Spatz (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken HS), who contributed 21 goals and three assists for 24 points to go along with 39 ground balls and 36 draw controls last season.

The Greyhounds begin their 2008 season on Friday, March 7th in a non-conference home match versus Cedar Crest College beginning at 1:00 p.m. on the HUB Quad.  Moravian’s inaugural Landmark Conference match will be on Saturday, April 5th at the University of Scranton at 1:00 p.m.
