MORAVIAN MEN’S LACROSSE TEAM SELECTED SEVENTH IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The 2008 Moravian College men’s lacrosse team has been picked to finish seventh in the inaugural Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

The United States Merchant Marine Academy was selected first in the poll with 48 points while Drew University and Goucher College tied for second with 33 points. The University of Scranton was fourth in the poll with 28 points while The Catholic University of America was fifth with 24 points and Susquehanna University finished sixth with 15 points.  The Greyhounds were in seventh place with eight points.

Moravian is looking to be a contender in the Landmark Conference this season after a 2-14 mark last year that saw the Greyhounds drop six matches by three or fewer goals. The Greyhounds, under the direction of head coach Fran Meagher, are going into only their fifth season as a varsity sport at Moravian.  Coach Meagher returns 13 letterwinners going into the 2008 season.

The Greyhounds begin their 2008 season on Saturday, February 23rd in a non-conference match versus Ursinus College beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field.  Moravian’s inaugural Landmark Conference match will be on Wednesday, March 26th versus Drew University at Rocco Calvo Field beginning at 4:00 p.m.
