MORAVIAN’S OZZIE BROWN HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Senior jumper/sprinter Ozzie Brown (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh HS) of the Moravian College men’s indoor track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for his performance last weekend in leading the Greyhounds to the inaugural Landmark Conference Championship.

Brown, who is being honored by the Landmark Conference for the fifth time this season and the third time for his field performance, was named the Male Field Athlete of the Meet after winning the long jump in an NCAA Division III provisional and Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference qualifying distance of 7.11 meters (23 feet, four inches) and the high jump at an ECAC qualifying height of 1.92 meters (six feet, 3 1/2 inches).  Brown also captured the 55-meter dash in an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 6.41 seconds, the 200-meter dash in a school record and ECAC qualifying time of 22.15 seconds and the 55-meter hurdles in an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 7.60 seconds. 

Brown helped the 4x200-meter relay to a win in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:31.43, and the 4x400-meter relay to a first place finish in a time of 3:28.66.  Brown rounded out his day with a fifth place in the shot put with a toss of 12.25 meters (40 feet, 2 1/4 inches).

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Friday, March 7th in the first day of the 2008 ECAC Division III Championships that will be held at Harvard University.
