MORAVIAN SENIOR NATHANIEL TUSSEY NAMED TO USTFCCCA DIVISION III ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

NEW ORLEANS, LA --- Moravian College senior Nathaniel Tussey (Perkiomenville, PA/Boyertown HS) has been named to the 2008 United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III Men’s All-Academic Team.

Tussey is one of 158 student-athletes from 70 NCAA Division III institutions to win the award.  The USTFCCCA honors Division III individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.  To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.

Tussey, a hurdler and sprinter, was a two-time All-American at this year’s NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships with a fifth place finish in the 110-meter high hurdles in a time of 14.50 seconds and a fifth place finish in the 400-meter hurdles in a school record time of 52.01 seconds.  Tussey is a three-time All-American who has one outdoor season of eligibility remaining.

He also helped the Greyhounds win the 2008 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championship after missing the indoor meet due to an injury.  Tussey won the 400-meter dash and the 400-meter hurdles at the Landmark Championships and he was part of Moravian’s winning 4x400-meter relay team.  He was the runner-up in the 110-meter high hurdles, and Tussey has qualified for the 2008 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships in the 110-meter high hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles.

Tussey was Moravian’s male 2008 Robbins ECAC Scholar-Athlete and he was also named the school’s Senior Male Blue & Grey Scholar-Athlete.  Tussey, who was the Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for Men’s Outdoor Track & Field, has a 3.47 grade point average, and he is majoring in biology.
