MORAVIAN SELECTED FIFTH IN 2008 CENTENNIAL CONFERENCE PRESEASON FOOTBALL POLL

            HERSHEY, PA --- The Moravian College football team has been selected to finish fifth in the 2008 Centennial Conference preseason poll selected by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors and released at the 2008 Centennial Conference media day luncheon at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey Wednesday.

The Greyhounds, under the direction of head coach Scot Dapp entering his 22nd season with a 127-88-1 record, return 67 letterwinners from last year's 6-4 squad as Moravian made its debut in the Centennial Conference as an associate member in the sport of football in 2007. The Greyhounds were 4-4 in their first Centennial Conference season last fall, and expect to have 104 players report to camp on August 13th.

Defending Centennial Conference Champion Muhlenberg College was selected first in the Centennial Conference poll with 14 first-place votes and 126 points. Dickinson College was second with 98 points while Ursinus College was picked third with 90 points. Johns Hopkins University earned two first-place votes and was fourth with 86 points while Moravian garnered 77 points for fifth place. Rounding out the poll was Gettysburg College in sixth with two first-place votes and 72 points, Franklin & Marshall College at seventh with 52 points, McDaniel College in eighth with 29 points and Juniata College with 18 points.

Moravian will begin its 2008 schedule on Saturday, September 6th in a non-conference game versus Susquehanna University kicking off at 1:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field in Bethelhem while the Greyhounds will open their Centennial Conference season on Saturday, September 13th at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland at 1:00 p.m.
