MORAVIAN MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM SELECTED SIXTH IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian College men’s cross country team has been picked to finish sixth in the 2008 Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

Defending Landmark Conference Champion Susquehanna University was selected first in the poll with 68 points just six points ahead of the United States Merchant Marine Academy with 62 points. Juniata College was picked third with 55 points while The University of Scranton finished fourth in the preseason voting with 42 points. Goucher College collected 36 points to finish fifth, and rounding out the poll were the Greyhounds with 27 points, The Catholic University of America with 26 points and Drew University with 14 points.

Moravian looks to challenge for the Landmark Conference Championship with the return a majority of its top runners including eight letterwinners on the men’s squad. Third-year head coach Welles Lobb looks into building his young teams up enough to be a top competitor in the Landmark Conference.  The team began its preseason on Monday, August 18th.

The Greyhounds begin their 2008 season on Friday, August 29th at the Lehigh Valley Games hosted by Lehigh University on the Goodman Campus at 5:00 p.m.  The 2008 Landmark Conference championship meet will be held on Saturday, November 1st at the Ft. Roberdeau Historic Site in Altoona, Pennsylvania and hosted by Juniata.
