MORAVIAN’S RECKENBEIL NAMED TO D3football.com TEAM OF THE WEEK

MINNEAPOLIS, MN --- Senior kicker Brian Reckenbeil (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville HS) of the Moravian College football team has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his performance in the Greyhounds’ 27-14 victory at Susquehanna University last Saturday to begin the 2008 season.

Reckenbeil, who was named as the Centennial Conference Co-Special Teams Player of the Week on Sunday, had a record-setting day in Moravian's win over Susquehanna as he scored nine points and kicked the longest field goal in the history of Moravian, which is beginning its 84th season, with a 47-yard field goal in his first kick of the season.  Reckenbeil's previous long was 42 yards during the 2006 season.  Reckenbeil, who played soccer in high school and did not kick a football until coming to Moravian in 2005, now owns or shares all but one of the Greyhound kicking records.

In addition to the longest field goal in school history, Reckenbeil owns marks for field goals in a game, tied with three, field goals in a season with 11, field goals in a career, now 30, extra-points in a game, tied with seven, extra-points in a career, now tied with 73 after making three versus Susquehanna, points in a game, tied with 11, points in a season with 62 and points in a career, now with 163.  He is fourth in school history in total point, and the only school record Reckenbeil doesn’t own is extra-points in a season.  Reckenbeil has connected on 41 straight extra-points, having not missed since the end of the 2006 season.

Moravian will play its first Centennial Conference game of the season on Saturday, September 13th at McDaniel College with kickoff slated for 1:00 p.m. in Westminster, Maryland.
