SEVEN MORAVIAN FOOTBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION III STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College football team has seven student-athletes ranked in the first NCAA Division III statistical rankings of 2008 through games of September 7th, and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in six team categories.

Senior kicker Brian Reckenbeil (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville HS) is tied for fifth in the country in field goals per game at 2.0 while senior running back Tyler deRouen (West Milford, NJ/West Milford HS) is tied for 27th is rushing with an average of 131.0 yards per game.  Senior defensive back Carl Robinson (Boothwyn, PA/Garnet Valley HS), pictured at right, and sophomore defensive back Daniel Burley (Easton, PA/Easton HS) are tied for 30th in the country in interceptions with 1.0 per contest.

Senior quarterback Marc Braxmeier (Center Valley, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) is 43rd in the nation in pass efficiency with a 140.21 rating while Robinson, senior defensive lineman Doug Bocchino (Madison, NJ/Madison HS) and junior linebacker Jayson Williams (Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood HS) are tied for 51st in sacks at 1.0 per game.  

Moravian is tied for fourth in the nation in turnover margin with a +4.0, and the team is 22nd in pass efficiency defense at 70.85.  The Greyhounds are also 26th in rushing offense at 235.0 yards per game, tied for 26th in sacks with 3.0 per contest, 40th in scoring defense, allowing 14.0 points per game and 48th in total defense, allowing just 257.0 yards per game.

The Greyhounds will return to action on Saturday, September 15th in a Centennial Conference game at McDaniel College.  Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. at Scott Blair Stadium in Westminster, Maryland.
