MORAVIAN’S MAURA ACOX NAMED LANDMARK CONFERENCE FIELD HOCKEY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Sophomore goalie Maura Acox (Old Bridge, NJ/St. John Vianney HS) of the Moravian College field hockey team has been named the Landmark Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week for her performance last week.

Acox helped Moravian to a 1-1 week in a pair of double overtime matches.  She had seven saves in 97:27 during a 2-1 loss to Misericordia University that saw the Greyhounds out shoot the Cougars 40-14 including 16-4 in the overtime sessions.  Acox then made six saves in 96:19 in a 2-1 double overtime win at Gwynedd-Mercy College, the Greyhounds fourth overtime match of the season and fifth of six contests decided by a goal.  For the week, Acox had a 1.08 goals-against average and a .812 save percentage while making 13 saves in 193:46 minutes of action.

Moravian, which is 2-4 overall, is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, September 24th in a non-conference match at rival Muhlenberg College beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Scotty Wood Stadium in Allentown.
