MORAVIAN’S TYLER McCAMBRIDGE, BRIAN RECKENBEIL & CARL ROBINSON NAMED TO
ESPN The Magazine ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAMS

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Seniors running back Tyler McCambridge (Northampton, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS), kicker Brian Reckenbeil (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville HS) and defensive back Carl Robinson (Boothwyn, PA/Garnet Valley HS) have been named to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II College Division Football First Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

By making the All-District First Team, McCambridge, Reckenbeil and Robinson are now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American® accolades, which will be announced on Tuesday, November 25th.  Moravian has had 33 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans including 28 in the last 15 years, and three former football players, Jeff Pollack in 1987, Jud Frank in 1993 and Mike Paciulli in 1994, have earned Academic All-America honors.

To be eligible for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America® accolades, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. The College Division is made up of all the NCAA Division II and III schools in the nation as well as all NAIA schools.  Student-athletes from NCAA Division I schools are named to the University Division Teams.  District II is made up of schools from Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

McCambridge, who was on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team the last two seasons, has gained 812 yards on 138 carries this season with nine touchdowns and a career long run of 79 yards despite missing one full game and parts of another with injuries in 2008.  McCambridge, pictured at right, also become the tenth Greyhound to reach 2,000 career yards rushing on October 18th and has 2,132 yards on 444 carries with 18 rushing touchdowns in his career.  McCambridge is majoring in biology with a minor in Spanish.

Reckenbeil, who was a member of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team the last two years as well, is averaging 7.1 points per game, and he is 25 of 25 on extra-points and 13-of-19 on field goals with a school record long of 47 yards.  Reckenbeil, pictured at left, became the school’s all-time leading scorer on November 1st with 218 points.  Reckenbeil is top kicker in school history with 218 career points on 95 extra-points and 41 field goals, both school records.  Reckenbeil has made 63 straight extra-points dating back to the 2006 season.  He also made the first 28 extra-point attempts of his career.  Reckenbeil’s 65 points in 2008 is a school record for kickers.  Reckenbeil is majoring in biology with a minor in accounting.

Robinson, who was on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team last fall, has contributed 52 tackles, five interceptions, a total of 11 passes defended, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble.  Robinson, pictured at right, is serving as one of Moravian’s four team captains this season for the second straight year, and he is the president of Moravian’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.  Robinson is majoring in mathematics and secondary education.

Moravian, which is 7-2 overall and 5-2 in its second season in the Centennial Conference closes out the 2008 season on Saturday, November 15th with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff versus rival Muhlenberg College in Centennial Conference action at Rocco Calvo Field in Bethlehem.
